Deep Frying Health Risks

Whether we like to admit it or not, most of us already know about the deep frying health risks. We try to find ways around it, like using different kinds of oils that are considered to be healthy, but we’ve already seen why the best oil for deep frying is actually no oil at all.

We know the risks, but we decide to ignore them because we simply love fried food so much. We think to ourselves, one more time won’t hurt, I exercise a lot so I’ll burn all the calories anyway and things like that. And it is true, exercising helps, eating fried food in moderation is better than eating tons of it, but at the end of the day fried food isn’t good for us no matter which way we try look at it.

For starters fried food is a poor diet, as the cooking process itself kills many of the nutrients that naturally come in the food we fry. So a diet that’s heavy in fried food will definitely be a poor diet and will need to go hand by hand with a variety of other aliments to complement the lack of nutrients. But that’s not all that scary, what’s scary are the deadly diseases that we expose ourselves by eating fried foods in abundance.

Let’s take a look at some of this diseases. Hopefully by better understanding what we are doing to our body when eating fried food more people will make the decision to switch to oil less frying solutions like the ones we love so much.

Diabetes

Diabetes is a serious health condition which affects a larger part of the world population each year, especially in countries like the United States. Although treatable, diabetes increases the risk of strokes, blindness, nerve damage, kidney problems and even teeth loss.

According to a study by the Harvard School of Public Health which studied over 100.000 test subjects over 25 years, eating fried food drastically increases the risk of suffering type 2 diabetes. The relation between the two facts is so obvious that is actually easy to see how the more fried food one eats the higher the risks. If you eat fried food 4 times per week your risk of getting type 2 diabetes increases by 39% compared to someone who doesn’t eat fried food, while if you eat fried food every day that number pops up to 55%!

Heart Disease

Deep fried food come with an excess of fats, calories and cholesterol that adhere to the wall of our arteries making the blood flow narrower and narrower each time.

A poor blood flow might cause the loss of sensitivity in hands and feet as well as increasing signs of fatigue while performing routinely activities. All these ultimately means that your heart will have to work harder to pump blood to all parts of your body, which increases the chances of having a heart attack or stroke.

Think of your heart as the engine of your car. The harder you make it work the more likely it is to fail.

Cancer Risk

Cancer is by far the disease of our time. It’s spreading like no other disease and had acquired different shapes and colors in a record amount of time.

According to a study by the Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences subjects with a poor diet including abundances of fried food have up to eight times the odds of having breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, lung cancer, oral and throat cancers, esophageal cancer, and cancer of the voicebox, many of which are 100% deadly.

Obesity

Our modern lifestyle is making us more and more sedentary each day. Most of us seat in front of a computer for most of the day and only walk a few block during our commutes. Sure we sign up to a gym and try to go and exercise regularly, but the truth is life usually gets in the way and we don’t make it to the gym as much as we would like, definitely not as much as we should.

At the same time our diets are becoming more and more rich in calories which we simply don’t have enough time to burn. It’s as simple as that.

Fried foods are an incredible source of calories, they provide more calories than we can reasonably burn, leading to weight gain and eventually obesity, which is one of the deadliest diseases in the United States right now.

Conclusion

Now the question you should be asking yourself is; Having so much data to prove how bad fried food is for our health, is it worth to keep eating so much fried food? Shouldn’t you at least make the effort to try oil-less frying?

We definitely think moving away from traditionally deep fried food is the way to go, and we encourage you to do the same!
