Philips AirFryer Cleaning

So now that you have your AirFryer and are already cooking some delicious recipes with it, it’s time to learn how to properly clean it and maintain it.

This appliance requires very little maintenance, and cleaning it is very easy and straight forward, especially if you compare it with a traditional deep oil fryer. However the fact that cleaning it is easy doesn’t mean we can forget about it. Failing to properly clean our AirFryer can result in:

  • More smoke than usual coming out of it while we cooking
  • The room smells like food more than usual after cooking
  • Our food coming out with mixed flavors

So how do you clean your AirFryer? Well there are a few different things to consider and take care off, let’s take a closer look at each one of them.

Cleaning the AirFryer’s pan and tray

Philips AirFryer Cleaning (2)The pan and tray are the parts which will naturally need to be cleaned the most. In fact, it is advised that both the pan and tray be cleaned after each use, although you might be able to get away with cleaning just the tray for a couple of rounds if you are using a solid bottom tray such as the baking pan or the grilling pan.

When it comes to cleaning the pan and tray you should proceed just as you would for cleaning a regular kitchen pan. Use a non-abrasive sponge or brush with your regular dishwashing soap to remove the grease and rinse with clear water before drying them up.

If the pan has food particles stuck to it, which will often be the case when using the frying tray, you may fill the tray with water and a little bit of detergent and soak the tray in it for 10-20 minutes before rubbing it with the sponge.

Dishwasher safe

That or simply put them into the dishwasher! That’s right, both the pan and the trays are safe to go into the dishwasher with the rest of your dishes. Just make sure no large pieces of food are stuck to the tray before putting it into the dishwasher and you are done!

Cleaning the interior of the AirFryer

Philips AirFryer Cleaning (1)The interior of the AirFryer’s body (that is the part that doesn’t come out with the pan and tray) also needs to be cleaned regularly, although not as much as the pan and tray do. Depending on how much you use your AirFryer and what kind of food you cook in it you might need to clean the interior anywhere from once a week to once a month or less.

Whichever the case, when the time comes to clean the interior of the appliance simply remove the pan and tray, make sure the machine is cold to avoid getting burned and proceed to cleaning the heating element at the top with a soft moist sponge or brush, then try it using a paper towel. Do the same for the metal bottom part of the interior. If you find it difficult to get rid of the grease layer on the interior wall, try using hot water and even regular soap. Avoid using strong chemicals to clean the inside of the machine as no matter how well you dry it up traces of the chemical will remain and will turn into fumes, which might be harmful for your health, next time you heat up the AirFryer.

It is important that you clean the heating spiral with care and that you never user steel brushes to do so or you might damage the material that the heating spiral is made off. Remember that food has never been in touch with this element so there will be food particles stuck you need to get rid of, just a soft layer of grease.

Cleaning the outside of the AirFryer

Philips AirFryer Cleaning (3)Now that the pans, tray and interior of your machine are clean it’s time to clean it from the outside. This is only done for aesthetics and will have no effect on how your food is cooked or how it tastes, but it’s still important since the AirFryer isn’t a particularly small appliances and chances are it will take a prominent space in your kitchen, so you might as well make it shine!

The outside of the AirFryer does not get dirty from the cooking itself like it happens with traditional fryers, it will just get dirt from sitting on your counter top like any other appliance would, so it will be relatively simple to clean. Simply use a moist cotton cloth to clean the plastic case. Be careful not to use any abrasive materials, as even a soft sponge might scratch the plastic surface and make your machine look older than it actually is.

Conclusion

If you think this is a lot of work keep in mind this is an extensive article on how to clean the AirFryer from top to bottom. It’s actually easier to keep the AirFryer clean and shiny than it is to keep other appliances the same way. On a daily basis cleaning this machine will take you no longer than cleaning a regular kitchen pan or pot.

Overall this is also a much cleaner option than a traditional oil fryer which quickly become greasy and sticky no matter how much care you put into using it. If you still aren’t convicend check out this quick video demo.
